Students who are not admitted to IU South Bend as freshmen may opt to participate in the Ivy Tech Transitions Program.
- Freshmen applicants who are denied admission will receive a Transitions packet that includes a Transitions Programs Student Transfer Contract and a booklet outlining course equivalencies for a selected number of General Education and introductory courses. You must sign the contract and return it to IU South Bend in order to enter formally into the program.
- Your contact information will be sent to an advisor at Ivy Tech who will assist you with fulfilling the requirements of the Transitions Program. You are also encouraged to maintain contact with an IU South Bend admissions counselor as you prepare to return to IU South Bend.
- You must complete English 111, a Math course, and 3 additional non-remedial courses of your choice (in addition to the New Student Seminar) to become eligible for admission under the terms of the Transitions Program. You must earn at least a C for each class. In addition to the courses listed in the Transitions booklet, you may use the Ivy Tech-South Bend course equivalency chart linked here to select alternative courses.
- Once you have completed the required course work, you will need to have an official transcript sent directly to IU South Bend from Ivy Tech. If you attended other colleges either before or after enrolling at Ivy Tech, we will need official transcripts from those colleges, as well.
