Joshua

Joshua King
Hello fellow Titans! My name is Joshua King. I am a non-traditional student at Indiana University South Bend and a Titan Ambassador with the Office of Admissions as well as a Peer Learning Assistant with the Academic Center for Excellence and will be on the first floor of the library as a tutor. I will be 32 this year and in my Senior year earning a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in General Studies with a concentration in Math & Science and three minors in Earth & Space Science, Sustainability Studies, and Business Administration.

Prior to attending Indiana University South Bend, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where I spent four years on active duty. Two of these enlisted years were stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan where I also deployed for six months to the Pacific Ocean. My military occupational specialty designation was Field Artillery Land Surveyor and Meteorology. I graduated high school in 2010 where I did two advanced placement classes in writing and public speaking through Indiana University and those credits transferred 8 years later towards an Associate of Liberal Arts in General Studies with the University of Maryland Global Campus while stationed in Okinawa.

Outside of the military and college, I have spent years acquiring work experience in construction, landscaping, fabrication, food service, and welding. I spent time scuba diving in Okinawa and am a PADI certified rescue diver who can administer emergency oxygen. I am also CPR and AED certified. I enjoy soil science and am a certified water irrigation specialist. I also earned a black belt in Marine Corps martial arts. After graduation I intend on applying for a graduate program at the University of Notre Dame and continuing on to a lifelong career with a federal agency. Semper Fidelis! GO TITANS!
