I am also a tour guide at IU South Bend. My favorite thing about IU South Bend is meeting new people and the events. I enjoy being outside and listening to music. I am excited for my senior year, and I can't wait!
Gabby
Hi! My name is Gabby Thompson and I am a current first generation and honors student at IUSB. Here, I am studying psychology with a minor in counseling. After I graduate, I plan on coming back to IUSB to pursue a master's degree in social work. My favorite thing about IUSB is all of the amazing people and staff I have met here. I am always looking to help others and get to know different people— this is why I am pursuing my degree! Also, my dream job is in child advocacy and forensic interviewing. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, baking, and watching documentaries. I also have a passion for the Spanish language and am practicing in my free time.
Jennifer
Hello! My name is Jennifer Ashcraft and I am a May 2023 graduate from IU South Bend. One of my greatest achievements in life was walking across the stage to receive my Bachelor's Degree in General Studies this Spring. I am furthering my educational journey by studying for my Master's Degree this Fall. For 25 years, I traveled around the world as a flight attendant and try to visit as many countries and cultures as I can. I am a lover of history and enjoy visiting historic sites and cities. I am a mother to three girls and a grandmother to two while also tending to my three dogs. In my spare time, I am involved with animal rescue organizations and volunteer through PAWS transporting dogs to welcoming families.
Eve
Hi! My name is Eve Mathews. I am a graduate student here at IU South Bend. I came back to college after raising my three children. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in English as a New Language (ENL). Now I’m nearly through my Masters of Science in Education with a focus on Language Learners. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world! My goal is to learn the polite words of as many languages as possible. I love to travel! I have lived in Japan. I love to cook, garden, walk through museums, and attend musical performances. I have the cutest Pekingnese dog named Bobby. He has just one eye but he seems perfectly fine as he is.
I am a full time teacher at Mary Daly Elementary School in Elkhart, Indiana. I currently teach K-3rd graders as an ENL teacher.
I was part of the IU South Bend Honors Program. I am in the International Student Organization. Last spring we cooked over 800 Swedish meatballs for the International Food Festival. I look forward to meeting you! I hope you will feel welcomed and accepted here. Please let me know if I can help you get accustomed to our diverse and inclusive learning environment.
